Where have the Brits gone wrong !!!

I have read the article in L´express the 9th January 2007 page 11, ?WHAT´S WRONG WITH MAURITIUS ?? written by Mat Coomber. I would like to react to the criticisms made openly towards Mauritius, its public and the Prime Minister.

Criticisms have been made on our Education, health, transport, rise in price, poverty and standard of living. Mauritius has been ruled by different colony in the past and now we are put to the challenge. We are a developing country, otherwise Mauritius should have been called New York.

I have great concern for UK, London mainly the so-called Capital of Europe and i would like to share my knowledge for having studied the country from A to Z for the past 5 years.

Mr Mat Coomber, Welcome to Britain?

A country with 57 million people, with a very high GDP. To my surprise, having landed for the first time in London, i thought i took the wrong plane. I got the feeling i was in Mumbai as all the Immigration Officers were Indians. Where are the British People? And much later i came to know that British Pensioners live abroad , France, Spain, Florida, etc...... WHY? You should have the answer Mr Mat Coomber.

LANGUAGE: Criticisms were made on our spelling. How many British people speaks French, Spanish, Italian or other languages? In Mauritius we are gifted. Once we are born we speak 3 languages.

EDUCATION: We don´t have big scientists in Mauritius. Let´s bring the argument to the lowest level possible. O level & A level. Students in the UK sitting for O level & A level take different exams papers .Would you believe that English people fail in English language! What a SHAME ! We in Mauritius our O level and A level are prepared and marked by the UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE and we passed with flying colours. Pass marks was reduced in British Schools so as to encourage young British to go to University as they have seen that in 20 years time, foreigners will take everything over.

PUBLIC HEALTH: If you are sick in UK and you go to the hospital, you have to wait for more than 4 hours in the casualty room before being seen by a doctor. There´s a lack in Beds, Doctors, Nurses, etc. That is why Nursing was open to the whole world.

TRANSPORT: Catastrophic ! I know our roads in Mauritius is not very good, still we are managing as such a little country we are. But, what about Britain! London for example, the roads are so narrow, that they have to pay a CONGESTION charge to get into the City Centre.

ECONOMY: Balance of Payments deficits of 38 billion pounds. What´s happening to the British economy? People in the UK are living with Loans, Mortgages and Credit Cards to be able to afford a flashy life. They are so indebted and yet they would say they are the best.

NATIONAL TV : They have only 5 free channels and their news will show Africa only when Africa is starving. They will never show the rich side of Africa. Italy got 18 free channels for its population.

NATIONAL DISH : Chips, bacon and Egg. Each country has its own national dish. Italy has PIZZA and so on...... What does Britain have? They did a survey once asking all the people going out which restaurant they are going. The survey says Indian. Chicken Tika Masala. As such, they wanted to put Chicken Tika Masala as their National Dish, again relying on foreigners. Can you believe that there´s only 17 British Restaurant in London.

ENVIRONMENT: There are places in London which looks like Mogadishu, Karachi,etc. Brixton for example , very different from Leicester Square or Knightsbridge. Not to forget all these refugees. Have you ever compared a British house to a Mauritian House?

The British invented football and I am quite surprised to see there is a Stadium called the Emirates Stadium. Who owns Manchester United, Chelsea, Harrods, etc. WHERE ARE THE BRITS?
