<B>Communication and enthusiasm</B>

Yasmin grew up in London and worked there. Then she moved to Mauritius and got her job as British Council marketing events and PR manager.

Although she looks as if she is 22, Yasmin is around twice as old. She started working when she turned 13 years old in a jewellery shop while she was still going to school. With this experience since such a very young age, Yasmin managed to acquire certain qualities namely experience in dealing and communicating with people. She lived and grew up in London where she did both her primary and secondary schooling.

After she finished school, she started working in two departments of British Telecom (BT) in Central London at the age of twenty. Basically, she was involved in finance. However, she spent most of her time in sales and customer service. But after thirteen years in this job, she got fed up and did what she had always thought she would never do: come to Mauritius.

?I always thought I would never come to Mauritius despite the fact that my roots were here, but I just could not bear the rat race and the pressure of London. I had already been here for holidays and I really enjoyed it. This is one of the reasons why I decided to come back. However, it was not the same as when I came for holidays? it was quite hard for me to adapt in the beginning.?

Before coming here, Yasmin had travelled in countries like Sri Lanka, Dubai and many places in Europe. But coming back to Mauritius was not a hard decision at the end of the day. ?When I realised I wanted to leave London, I definitely decided to come to Mauritius. It has its downside like all countries do. But it also has its advantages. I just love Mauritius and its environment. I like waking up in the morning and looking at the mountains rather than looking at the grey sky that we often have in London.?

When she was younger, Yasmin?s main occupation was reading. She also loved going to the theatre and the cinema as well. On the other hand, she was a great dancer, mainly ballet and tap dancing. Today, her hobbies are slightly different. Reading is still one of the things she likes best, but, above all, her work at the British Council in the Marketing department and as PR manager is something she simply enjoys doing. She loves it for two reasons: its environment and because she loves reading.

When the future is mentioned, Yasmin is focused on what she does at the British Council. Indeed she just wants the British council to bring as much good as it can to the people, as she believes so much in it. As for her own plans, she just does not want to leave either the British Council or Mauritius. ?I would really like to be more involved in training. I have been told I am good at it. But I certainly do not intend to leave Mauritius. I love my job and my working environment!?
