■ RACE 1 ? THE ?DEANAN? DOYAL CUP

At the start Gandolf and Precision threw their heads up and Sir Winston slipped, all being slow out and losing about one length. Trainer S. Ramdour and jockey Boutanive were questioned with regard to the poor performance of Tabasheer. Trainer Ramdour stated that last time the horse was well drawn and had the run of the race on the fence whereas this time it was drawn wider and had a hard race. Jockey Boutanive added that the horse felt better at track work than before its previous start and he expected it to run well but from the start his mount was never striding out properly in the rain affected going and attributed it to the poor performance of the horse. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormality. Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Sir Winston and Tabasheer prior to the race and from Dutori after the race. Blood specimens were taken from Harbour Bridge and Tabasheer prior to the race.

■ RACE 2 ? THE COMPLIS CUP

As the gates opened, Tuff Stuff reared badly, dislodging jockey Naiko. Trainer V. Allet was told that this horse will have to pass a barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being allowed to race again. At the start Pigeon Post jumped outwards and had to be straightened, losing about one length. Shortly after the 1300 metres, Joystick was slightly inconvenienced when Muhta?s Dancer shifted in. Jockey Jeanpierre was shown the video of the incident and told to exercise care when shifting ground. Approaching the 400 metres Pigeon Post and Aeronaut were inconvenienced when the riderless horse shifted out in front of them and again Aeronaut was inconvenienced from the 300 metres until entering the final straight. Sugar Prince had difficulty obtaining a clear run for most of the final straight and near the 75 metres was taken out off the heels of Twoicee in order to obtain a clear run. Approaching the 100 metres jockey Herholdt accidentally dropped his whip. Routine urine and blood specimens were taken for analysis from Joystick prior to the race and urine specimens from Sun Blast prior to and after the race.

■ RACE 3 ? THE TELECOM PLUS CUP

At the start Ice Flow slipped, Play The Field and St Austell were slow out, all losing about one length. Don?s Fire jumped inwards, brushing Double Lock. Approaching the 100 metres Ice Flow had to be taken out off the heels of Imperial Crown in order to obtain a clear run. Jockey Daby was shown the video of the incident and told to straighten his mounts when they shift ground. Over the final 100 metres Play The Field was held up for a clear run. Near the 50 metres, Rue Royale was slightly inconvenienced when it shifted in marginally and was brushed by Double Lock on its inside. Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Ice Flow, Double Lock and Imperial Crown prior to the race and from Stormy Front after the race. Blood specimen was taken from Stormy Front prior to the race.

■ RACE 4 ? THE CELLPLUS CUP

Jockey Boutanive (Destination) reported that his mount put its tongue over the bit after the start and hung out all the way. Cross Patch was unruly in the stall and jumped with its head up, Destination stood flat-footed, both being slow out by about one length. Destination raced wide on the final turn. After entering the final straight, jockey Venkaya (Collect The Cash) allowed his mount to shift in onto the fence, resulting in Noble Dancer having to be taken out for a clear run. Jockey Venkaya was shown the video of the incident and told to keep his mounts on a straight course in the final straight. Jockey Herholdt (War Games) dropped his off-side rein shortly after entering the final straight and regained it after the winning post. War Games had a tendency to hang in over the last 100 metres and near the 75 metres had to be straightened. Borzov hung out badly in the final straight. Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Noble Dancer, Collect The Cash and Cross Patch prior to the race and from War Games prior to and after the race. Blood specimens were taken from Legionnaire and Destination prior to the race.

■ RACE 5 ? THE Mauritius Telecom BARBE CUP

At the start Germany On half-reared, Joshua Tree stood flat footed both horses being slow out and losing about one length. Young Warrior jumped outwards brushing Go The Roman. Have Mercy jumped inwards onto Ubusuku, resulting in Clifton King being cramped for room and having to be eased. Near the 1350 metres Ubusuku, when being settled behind Halidom, raced fiercely over approximately 50 metres. From the 350 metres, Clifton King was taken out for a clear run and raced wide from then on. From the 300 metres until entering the final straight Joshua Tree was held up for a run behind Young Warrior. Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Clifton King and Germany On prior to the race and from World Focus after the race.

■ RACE 6 ? THE CALL SERVICES CUP

Objections were lodged by jockeys R. Hill (Dandy Rouge) and F. Herholdt (Jumpin Joshua), which finished 2nd and 3rd respectively against T. Rex, being declared the winner, both alleging interference near the 1250 metres. After taking evidence from the riders and trainers concerned, the objections were dismissed. At the start, Longford jumped outwards brushing Nautilus. Shortly after, T.Rex shifted in onto Jumpin Joshua which became unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in Nautilus on its inside becoming cramped for room. Passing the 1300 metres Jumpin Joshua was cramped for room and had to be taken in onto Nautilus, on its inside and was turned sideways. As a result Nautilus was badly cramped for room and had to be severely checked. Shortly after Longford was also taken in from Jumpin Joshua being taken in, resulting in Dandy Rouge on the inside of Longford, having to be badly checked and lose its position. An inquiry into this incident will be held when jockey Emamdee is available. Approaching the 700 metres, Longford, which was racing fiercely, clipped the heels of Jumpin Joshua unbalancing jockey Boutanive over one stride. Trainer S. Ramdour and jockey Boutanive were questioned with regard to the poor performance of Longford. Trainer Ramdour stated that although Longford suffered from its hoof and had to be treated last week, the horse had been passed fit by the Veterinary Surgeon and worked well during the week. He thus expected a good showing from this horse today and agreed that it was a disappointing performance. Jockey Boutanive added that Longford was running for the second time after a lay off and the difference in track conditions today did not favour his mount. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormality. Routine urine and blood specimens were taken for analysis from Longford prior to the race and urine specimen from T.Rex after the race.

■ RACE 7 ? THE TELESERVICES CUP

At the start Royal Lineage was slow out losing about one length. Shortly after Vampire Jet shifted in and Extreme Force shifted out resulting in Road Rover having to be checked and lose its position. One For The Road jumped awkwardly, resulting in jockey Herholdt being slightly unbalanced and losing his near-side stirrup which he regained shortly afterwards. From the 1000 metres, when the pace slowed, Desert Dance started racing fiercely and proved difficult to control off the heels of Extreme Force. When questioned about the poor performance of One For The Road, jockey Herholdt stated that this horse raced very fiercely from the 900 metres to the 600 metres, throwing its head up when being settled. He added that the poor going on the inside of the track may not have suited the horse. Trainer B. Gujadhur added that the horse raced with a martingale to help jockey Herholdt settle his mount better. The horse had worked better with the said equipment at track work but again proved difficult in the race today. A subsequent veterinary examination of the horse revealed no abnormality. At an inquiry into the running and riding of King?s Oak (R.Hill), jockey Hill was asked why near the 400 metres he did not improve his position and instead elected to take his mount out behind another horse. He explained that after having taken King?s Oak out behind Wise Owl, it had a tendency to lay out slightly, thus proving somewhat difficult to be taken back to the inside. After consideration, jockey Hill was found guilty of a charge under Rule 161 (f) in that passing the 400 metres, instead of taking a gap which was available in front of him, he, without good cause, elected to take his horse out behind Wise Owl, thus failing to ride his mount to the satisfaction of the Stewards. The Racing Stewards informed jockey Hill that they will communicate their decision to him at a later date. Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Yankee Bell and King?s Oak prior to the race and from Vampire Jet prior to and after the race. Blood specimen was taken from Vampire Jet prior to the race.

■ RACE 8 ? THE LALDHEER PLATE

At the start Little Gee half-reared was slow out, losing about one length. Game Lodge raced wide from the start to the 1300 metres. Near the 1700 metres, Rambo Hawk which was racing fiercely had to be eased off the heels of Rob-N-Bob over a short distance. Rambo Hawk was taken out for a clear run near the 400 metres and raced wide from thereon. Approaching the 400 metres Crimson Gown shifted in and brushed the running rail. Routine urine specimens were taken for analysis from Game Lodge prior to the race and from Jazz Band after the race.
