<B>Chikungunya vaccine - still far away</B>

The French authorities have announced that they will start tests for a vaccine against chikungunya in December. As there is fear that the chikungunya epidemic may resume as soon as summer comes back, such a statement is full of hope for countries concerned. However, Mauritian chief medical officer, Shyam Sungkur declares that ?it will take many years? before a vaccine is put on the market. ?It will not happen very soon.? Hence, the authorities will continue their fight against the Aedes Albopictus mosquito that spreads the virus. Winter is a crucial period for this, as mosquitoes are less present at this time of the year. Eradication should be easier in the coming months.

<B>A business hotel in Ebène</B>

The Cybercity Hotel will come into operation in 2008. Work on this three star-plus hotel in the middle of the cyber village will start within the next few weeks. Bhunjun & Sons have obtained the contract for the construction and management of the hotel. They will invest Rs 500 million in this business hotel. The promoters are confident that, with the communication and leisure tools offered to customers, they will manage to find their place in the industry without pushing anyone out. As well as its spa, two pools, and fitness centre, there will be two restaurants open to Mauritians as well. The project appears viable, but it remains to be seen whether customers will respond positively to the call?
