This should reassure those concerned by Cardinal Margéot?s health after the major vascular accident he had in October. He is not ready to give up until his Creator decides to call him back?

Some gifts last for some time, others longer, but this one will survive. The web sitehttp://www.jeanmargeot.com - has been a way for two of his close priest friends, Filip Fanchette and Roby Bathfield, and others - François Mark, web designer, and Chantal Liu-Hung - to share the extraordinary treasure of not only the works of this exceptional man who has marked the history of this country but also his character so full of humour and compassion.

<B>Communicate with friends </B>

?He writes everything, he notes everything and he keeps everything? He is a spiritual master whom very few people really know. We must help him share who he is, what he knows. This treasure must not disappear with him,? says Filip Fanchette, who had been toying the idea of the website for some time. ?I would have really felt bad if we had not started the site and something had happened to him? The site will allow poeple to discover another side of the guru, of the giant? his tranquil objectivity, his great compassion, and his wisdom.?

This is why the opening text of the web site ?Jean Margéot saved the country? is Filip Fanchette?s account of the Cardinal?s encounter with former president Cassam Uteem during the Kaya episode in February 1999 that had led to riots.

The Cardinal is also a computer fan and the web site will be a way for him to communicate not only with locals but also with all his friends from abroad and the expats in Canada and Australia. In fact, since these people emigrated in the 1970s, he has kept up links with them and encouraged them to nurture their faith in their countries of adoption. Their response to the web site initiative has been encouraging, namely Pat Morel and Clancy Philippe (www.cjp.net) who motivated people to send birthday greetings to the Cardinal.

The web site is still under construction but it already contains homilies, prayers, audio texts and pictures. A great treasure indeed for our budding cyber island and it will cross the oceans through the power of technology and the will of a few who wanted to celebrate their friend and cardinal on his 90th birthday.
