Murder? under the appearance of burglary?
Gratuitous violence seems to have become common practice throughout the island. René Maderbux, an inhabitant of La Tour Koenig, was callously murdered in his home last Wednesday. Seven suspects have already been questioned, among them a 17-year old man who knew the family as well as habitual offenders of the area. If the police first thought the crime was the result of a burglary, they are now thinking of a possible settling of scores by one of the clients of René Maderbux?s snack-bar, Chez Bea.
His daughter,14-year old Tracy, found her stabbed father lying in a pool of blood in his bedroom. As Rene?s wife, Mala, was waiting for her husband at the snack-bar and did not understand why he was taking so long, she sent her daughter to see what was happening.
But as soon as Tracy stepped into the house, she saw that it had been ransacked and finally discovered her father?s body. She described how papers and personal stuff were scattered on the floor. She said her father was the only one to have the key of the cupboard containing these. The police suspect that the person (s) who committed the crime knew the family?s habits.
The snack-bar has been closed since the murder. The inhabitants of La Tour Koenig can?t explain such violence and describe René Maderbux as a ?nice man with a good sense of humour.? They are angry with the police who have not succeeded in stopping drug trafficking in the area which is a threat for them and their children.
