● You just got your SC results. How do you feel?

I feel utterly relieved. I was very impatient and I was anxious about how I had done.

● Did you encounter any difficulty during the exam period?

I found most of the papers tough. Each time I came out of the exam room, my mates were telling me they had found the papers easy, while I had not. I thought I had done badly. The other problem was the fact that sometimes the exam papers were too close together - I could find myself with three papers in one day. I then felt really stressed.

● Did you get support to overcome those difficulties?

Indeed, I did get a lot of support from different people, especially my private tuition teachers. They always told that I had a lot of potential. To be honest, I did not really believe it. It was very encouraging for me to hear that. My parents were very supportive as they accepted to put up with my ?bad moods?. I also had many extra curricular activities. My school teachers were also encouraging as they always tried to boost my self-esteem throughout the year. I thank all of them from deep inside my heart.

● Are you satisfied with your results?

I feel very satisfied, especially since that I did not expect the aggregate (9) that I got because I found the papers quite hard. So I feel very fortunate.

l● What do you think about competition?

I think it is helpful in one way as it can help to motivate. For example, when I saw my mates working, I felt motivated, as I did not want to ?lag behind?. I did not really mind the competition because we were very close and supportive between class-mates.

● What is your personal opinion of the Gokhool reform for the CPE?

To be honest, in the beginning I agreed with it because I found it unfair that I had to go through the ?ranking system?, while the next generation could avoid it through ?grading?. But now I find the ?grading system? much better as it removes the pressure on children who are not strong enough to face competition. I think this situation has to be sorted out very quickly. The government cannot keep on changing the system every five years. Children need stability to fulfil their potential.

● Which schools have you attended and what are you planning next?

I did my primary education at Loreto Curepipe. When my parents advised me to go to Queen Elizabeth College, I was scared in the beginning. I had heard so many nasty things about it. But then, I started being excited about getting into that college. Today I feel very proud to be a student of Queen Elizabeth College. Now I want to finish my secondary education and go to university to prepare for a science-related career.
