The infrastructure has greatly improved. Lots of changes in the environmental sides. Decorative plants, frescoes, paintings, tiles, etc, really upgrade the look of the school. But unfortunately, the home environment of those pupils are the same. There is absolutely no improvement in their studies or in their behaviour. The upgrading of the school premises does not mean anything to the pupils. They have not changed.

Food given to these pupils does not seem to have any effect in their learning. Absenteeism is still prevailing and these pupils are not tempted by the foods given, to be regular at school.

The teachers working in these schools are supposed to show a particular and extra love and interest to these children and be more of a social worker than a teacher. As they work in a ZEP school, they are given an extra allowance in finance. Yet, the result is the same. These teachers are enjoying all their leaves, sick, casual, etc, and their latenesses and early departures do not qualify them to earn extra pay.

The former minister of Education fooled us, parents, about the introduction of Information Technology in primary schools. We learn that the ICT teachers who are posted to the primary schools, are contractees, unqualified, without any training to teach kids, without any child psychology in them. They are enjoying about 40 days of annual leave, not minding about our children. Our children, Standard I kids, are an easy prey to them. These children who do not even know how to write ?boy? or ?girl? are compelled to write ?switchboard?, etc, all technical words connected to the computer jargon. These ICT teachers have been recruited only for their own enjoyment. Most of them only make a show off, at schools, models, fashionable, but zero in the teaching of ICT.

We expected that the new minister of Education would kick out these ICT teachers and recruit professionals.

In the meantime, our poor children have to bear the consequences.

Caring ZEP parents
