Intoxications dans le métro parisien

Trente-cinq personnes ont été intoxiquées à des degrés divers par les émanations dégagées lors d?un incendie accidentel, hier matin, sur la ligne 13 du métro parisien. Un patin de freinage a pris feu peu avant 9 heures et mis le feu à un wagon entre les stations Varenne et Invalides. Le feu a été rapidement maîtrisé.Quinze des personnes intoxiquées ont été évacuées vers des hôpitaux parisiens, notamment une femme enceinte dans un état grave, a souligné le capitaine Cros.

Au total, 115 pompiers de 14 casernes ont été mobilisés pour ces opérations de secours qui ont pris fin vers 10 h 45. Le trafic restait toutefois partiellement interrompu sur la ligne 13.

Corrélation entre usage du cannabis et psychoses

Une nouvelle pièce est versée au dossier controversé de la nocivité du cannabis, la plus consommée de toutes les substances psychotropes illégales. L?usage régulier de cette substance augmenterait de 41 % les risques de développer ultérieurement une affection psychiatrique de nature psychotique, estiment Theresa Moore (université de Bristol) et Stanley Zammit (université de Cardiff) après analyse de 35 études menées sur ce thème. Les auteurs soulignent que s?ils observent bien une augmentation du risque, la fréquence de ces affections demeure relativement faible chez les consommateurs réguliers. Pour autant ces chercheurs estiment qu?il existe suffisamment de données statistiques pour mettre en garde ces derniers et pour informer l?opinion publique.

Swiss name Toyota?s Prius the world?s greenest car

Switzerland, renowned for its clean Alpine air and pristine ski slopes, has named Toyota?s Prius the world?s greenest car. The Swiss government gave the Prius the highest green rating in a draft study evaluating the environmental impact of driving around 6 000 different cars, including carbon dioxide (C02) emissions which contribute to global warming. The Swiss government said it hopes that the list will persuade drivers to buy cars which have the lowest impact on the environment. The list could also be used to impose an emissions-related tax on cars. Fiat?s Punto 1.2 Bipower and its Panda 1.2 Bipower, the Daihatsu Cuore and Citroen?s C3 1.4i GNV were all in the top 5 of the draft list. Environmentalists welcomed the Swiss government initiative.

US officials may subpoena filmmaker Moore

Federal officials may be planning to subpoena filmmaker Michael Moore seeking information about a trip he took to Cuba for his documentary, ?Sicko?. Moore said he was notified that a subpoena had already been issued. ?Sicko? takes a scathing look at the US health-care system through the eyes of people who suffered injuries or had diseases and felt the US system of insurers and drug providers failed them. The director took several Americans, who became ill after working in the ruins of New York?s World Trade Center following the September 11 attacks, for free treatment in Cuba. In May, the US Treasury Department informed Moore it was investigating his trip to the communist state as a potential violation of Washington?s long-standing embargo restricting U.S. citizens? travel to the communist nation.
